Installation of Bro Hugh Moorcroft as the Commander of the
Southport Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 473
7th February 2013
 
The Worshipful Commander Bro. Michael Eccles was pleased to welcome W.Bro Stuart L. Brackstone R.A.M.G.R. as the representative of the R.W.Prov.G.M. and as is the custom in the Southport Lodge R.A.M. 473 for the outgoing Commander to present the cheque for  Charity to him, on this occasion for the West Lancs. Mark Charity Fund in the sum of £100.00, W.Bro. Brackstone R.A.M.G.R. thanked the Worshipful Commander and Brethren on behalf of the eventual recipients.
 
At this meeting we were pleased to receive an application as a joining member, W.Bro. Andrew Albert James Guy, who when the ballot was taken, was presented by W.Bro Brian Molyneux Prov. R.A.M.G.R. the Prov.G.M.’s Special Representative to the Commander and Brethren. much to Albert’s amusement, as the youngest Royal Ark Mariner in the room, (Albert’s date of birth is August 1917).
 
The main business of the evening proceeded, and Bro. Hugh Moorcroft was Installed into the Chair in a relaxed and excellent manner by the Installing Commander Bro. Michael Eccles, with the assistance of W.Bro. George D. Wilkie who delivered the collar address, and W.Bro Brian Molyneux Prov. R.A.M.G.R. who delivered the address to the Commander, both with faultless ritual.
 
Having Invested all his Officers Bro. Moorcroft received the congratulations of the R.W.Prov.G.M. from W.Bro. Stuart L. Brackstone R.A.M.G.R., who was also pleased to extend those congratulations to the Installing Commander, the Brethren of the Lodge and the outgoing Director of Ceremonies W.Bro. Stanley H. Martin R.A.M.G.R.
 
At the close of the meeting we retired to our festive board and enjoyed a splendid meal in the company of our guests and friends.
